Flower lined walkways led us up stairs that ended on large porches hugging old plantation homes that survived war, crop failure, and changing times.
The girls took it all in and we shared a lot of history in one day.
A history lesson in our country's beginnings - Our Louisiana was ruled by the French and then the Spanish. A walk back in time including the creative endeavors of primitive artists and writers.
We celebrated with the Creole people at St. Augustine Catholic Church - a one of a kind people and culture that has an intricate and compelling history.
What is better than a wonderful day with friends, sensing what it was like to live in another time and another place. I give thanks!

I miss Cane River Country! Looks like you had a great day.
I lived in Baker for about a year back in 2004, loved it down there. I am from Michigan so the difference in the weather and people were really nice. Had to get use to the way people give directions down there though. The next right means 2 streets down and up here it means the very next street.
Well the reason I stopped by is to make sure you come by and sign up for the Pendant giveaway I have going on at my blog. http://christinas-created-creations.blogspot.com/2011/10/giveaway-time-pendant-pink-in-honor-of.html It will end Oct. 28th at midnight. You have 4 chances to enter.
